HedgeStar to lead hedge accounting workshop at Cargill Risk Management’s annual Latin American Semin

HedgeStar and Valtin Capital have been invited to lead a hedge accounting workshop at Cargill Risk Management’s third annual Latin American Seminar in Miami, Florida.

HedgeStar, along with Valtin Capital, will lead a workshop on Thursday afternoon of April 27 that will focus on risk management strategies related to commodity and currency hedging and related hedge accounting topics.

Attendees will be led through the nuances of hedge accounting, including: topic overview, requirements for hedge accounting, and case studies around cash flow and fair value hedges. The workshop will also dive into IFRS 9 and its effects on hedge accounting.

The workshop will be led by John Trefethen and Tim Potter of HedgeStar and Javier Vergara of Valtin Capital. John is the co-founder and director of HedgeStar with over 25 years of experience in the capital markets where he has held various positions specific to hedging risks specific to interest rates, commodities and currencies. Tim is the hedge accounting manager, overseeing the delivery of all hedge accounting related deliverables, and is a subject matter expert in global hedge accounting and compliance regulations. Javier is the managing partner of Valtin Capital, with over 18 years of experience in corporate finance consulting and financial risk management, hedging strategy implementation, and in the valuation of financial products and derivatives.
